Lenasia 2016 concert was a big milestone in the history of Indian music in South Africa with the participation of over 100 students and many guest artists from different genre of music. School showcased all three form of musical expression ( vocal, Instrumental and Dance) of Indian classical music along with very exciting collaborations and fusion music .
- First item was a combination of Indian classical and bollywood classical songs “Raga in bollywod” music was presented by a group of vocal students.
- First time in South Africa 50 tabla students presented Tabla solo in a orchestra format. Some Individual Tabla solo was presented by our advance table players.
- There was lots of collaboration items after the interval. First collaboration was between two ancient tradition of classical percussion Hindustani percussion Tabla and Carnatic percussion Mridangam.
- Second collaboration had very unique combination of TABLA, west African pitched percussion MARIMBA and a west African string Instrument “KORA”.
- Third collaboration was another rare combination of TABLA and one of the most exiting modern dance form TAP DANCE.
- Last item of the evening was one of the most popular traditional KATHAK DANCE, VOCAL AND TABLA presentation.
